"Health professionals are individuals that maintain health in humans through the application of the principles and procedures of evidence-based medicine and caring". Examples of health professionals include doctors, pharmacists, and dentists. (1) These health professionals are able to become trusted voices in the public health challenge of ensuring environmental sustainability. "Environmental sustainability is the rates of renewable resource harvest, pollution creation, and non renewable resource depletion that be continued indefinitely". This can be accomplished through the use of sociological imagination, that is comprised of four related factors, that includes historical, cultural, structural, and critical factors. Historical factors, such as past achievements and credibility of health professionals can heighten the level of trust between them and their patients to help environmental sustainability.
