Statement of Inquiry: The changing local and global environment can influence the way an artist responds and interprets subject matter. I have learned and informed the way of diverse printmaking techniques. Therefore, I divided part of infrastructure (top) and part of nature (bottom). For infrastructure, I wanted the part to be especially unrealizable, because most of them are man-made and are innovative. So I used a lot of straight lines (many buildings built are rectangular shaped). Some part contains dots that look like rocks, and these were to show that man-made things are little by little, eating up the nature. For the nature part, I used more realizable objects, such as wood and flowers. They are carved in exactly what their shape are, and are mostly connected to each other - because they all come from the one same thing - earth. The focal point of this print is the hand. I personified infrastructures, because modern technologies are man-made, so I thought that it would be nice to express infrastructure as a ‘big and strong person’ instead of just using rigid building figures. So the ‘person’ has a big lips and eye, not on its face but at the left side. Also, since a major part human uses to destroy the nature is hand, the biggest part with largest space in my print is hand (maybe I could have made the major part as lips like they are actually eating the nature).
