Imagine soaring through the vast, unknown abyss, where the laws of our Earth are ineffective. This could be at the tip of our fingertips, once space is open to the private domain. Before we get all ahead of ourselves, the act of privatizing space exploration is a whole feat of within itself. The idea of privatizing space have been popular for years but, there is a portion of our population out there who are against this. But why would people go against such a magnificent idea? Teeming with benefits, privatizing space exploration could deliver us support to the pre-existing NASA, present new technology/changes in our lives, and bring us the advent of the new “Space Race”. Evidently NASA is not that same as it used to be, and it could definitely use the help of …show more content…
As we all know that “History repeats Itself”, there would certainly be a second “Space Race” (Santanaya). Back during the cold war, the tension between Soviet Union and America were off-the-charts. These two superpowers competed for who had the more “superiority technology”, creating prosthetics, satellite tv, and memory foam (Kolbe). As a result of this competition, the Soviets and Americans worked relentlessly to come out as the most advanced. Comparing this, if we were to privatize space exploration, we would also feel another “space race”. But this time, between the private space companies. Each company would race to build the better rocket, launch the most efficient satellite, find asteroids to mine. In fact this is already happening! During the Whitehouse Frontier Conference, the central discussion was about space exploration. Even though NASA attended, most of the attendees were “investment companies” and “speakers from private companies” (Grady). The attendance of this conference shows without doubt that the companies are currently neck-to-neck, which concludes that there will certainly be another space
