Congratulations, you have just made your local club soccer team.
Now that you have been accepted, you are welcome to the excitement and joy of playing a sport. There is just one problem. You have never played soccer before. The only reason you made it was due to a shortage of players. Below are my top 6 tips that will help you go from benchwarmer to starter. Never shoot the ball. When you're dribbling to the goal, odds are the you will either miss or get it stolen from you. Save the embarrassment and don't bother shooting the ball. Better yet just pass the ball to someone else on your team and let them be embarrassed.

All coaches do is focus on what you did wrong, making you feel horrible about yourself. If you don't listen to your coach then you won't have to worry about feeling bad about yourself, making you feel and play better.
Don't worry about playing your position. When coaches tell you to go in for someone, half the time people don't know what position to play. If you get put in a position that you don't like to play, why not go and play the position that you do like to play.
Stay in one place. Don't worry about running around the field chasing people. If someone takes the ball from you don’t worry about stealing it back. That's what you team is for. Also, if you decide to chase the person down, you could easily fall and hurt yourself.
If possible, always volunteer to be keeper. When playing keeper, you don’t have to worry about running around the field. If the ball comes right at you, don’t worry about stopping it, just dodge the ball. If worst comes to worst keepers never get blamed for getting scored on. With these tips, you can become a benchwarmer to a starter on the team. Remember to worry about yourself over the team. Your safety is more important. So go take action and receive that starting position
