The beauty company has introduced two assessment tools to reduce the environmental impact of its package design. In 2010, L’Oreal started using Sustainable Packaging Scorecard (SPS) which allows to evaluate the sustainability of its product packaging and assess each new product using seven criteria: bio- plastics, PVC, certified paperboard, light weight techniques, recycled materials, packaging volume relative to fill weight and primary package size.
