War is raging on all fronts. The United States is holding true to its neutrality in World War I. As the war continues, growing suspicions creep into the households of everyday American people. The pressures of Germany are a growing problem for the United States. Germany ultimately forced the U.S. to declare war on them.
World War II greatly stimulated America’s economy by creating millions of jobs and nearly wiping out unemployment. Due to high levels of industrial outs, wages were also increased. Since WWII caused the economy to grow rapidly, things started to change within American society. WWII had a major influence on changing American society because the growth it caused in the economy allowed African Americans and women to seek new opportunities. Since the men were away fight in WWII, women had to take over as industrial workers in factories.
World War I changed the lives of many families and citizens. The World War is described as a foolish and unnecessary war. During the World War, the destruction led to cultural despair in many countries. Unlike Europe, homes, factories, and businesses in the US was not destroyed. Manufacturing and production increased during the war.
The war years marked the rise of the United States as having world power. During the war, the federal government intruded in the economy and influenced people’s everyday lives as never before. American leaders believed the nation’s future and prosperity and security depended on other lands and the influences from around the world. Economic bonds also allowed political impacts to be exercised abroad and helped spread the American way of life. Economic Change in America Change is relevant within every time period, however, very substantial changes took place in the Americas following the War of 1812. Future success of the American society was to be dictated by the support the federal government supplied to domestic manufacturing and infrastructure to make drastic improvements economically. The imposition of high tariffs, advancements in transportation and the development of the cotton gin are among the most important changes made in the United States during this time.
The United States continued a policy of isolationism up until World War 2. In conclusion, World War 1 changed American society, and foreign policy. American society changed as so women gained the right to vote, women gained more jobs. One thing that happened during the war was the Great Migration, which was when over 6 million AfricanAmericans moved north.
The United States’ economy changed a lot over time, and for different reasons. One of them was America’s growing dependance on other countries. Durning the 20th century, the World Trade Organization was founded. This allowed countries to trade with each other in more ways than before. Standardized containers and free trade played a large part in the advancement of world trade.
Between World War Ⅰ and World War Ⅱ, economic changes were the most prominent changes within the United States due to the extremity in which the economy changed. The Economic changes, such as the rise and fall of the stock market and and inflation, within the United States were the most notable changes between world wars. The United State’s economy following WWⅠ “boomed” or improved drastically. The condition of the economy slowly deteriorated as the United States began its involvement in World War Ⅱ. Domestic factors were major contributors to the rise and fall of the nation's economy.
Along with the work force came a change in who was working. During World War I, women had no choice but to work to support the families while their men were off fighting in the war. The womens movement and progressivism throughout World War I made it possible for women to not only continue working but to vote along with all other Americans due to the nineteenth amendment. Not only did Roosevelt help corporations but he also wanted to help Americans that were dying in his American states. President Roosevelt not only helped to put millions on Americans back to work but the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corp and the CWA, Civil Works Administration also help put Americans back to work.
After the conclusion of WWI, the economy had a rapid recession. For industry, the downturn didn't last long, as companies were able to successfully switch from producing military goods to producing consumer goods. During wartime, goods for the war were mass produced to help the military grow, once the war was over factories producing those goods were forced to shut down and rebrand themselves. As a result, unemployment was high as jobs began changing.
The Progressive Movement was an effort to cure the many ailments that plagued American society. The frontier had been tamed, great cities and businesses developed, and territories across the globe had been conquered, but not all citizens shared in this new found wealth, prestige, and optimism. With the great spurt of industrial growth in the last quarter of the 19th century, agriculture was not the great driving force it once was for the American economy. This alienated a vast majority of the midwestern towns, which could include Spoon River, whose livelihood would have likely been depended on the cultivation of crops. In an attempt to try and recapture the pureness of simpler times many turned to religion.
The early 1900s were a time of widespread social and political change in America. During this time, many Americans adopted new, more modern ideas about labor, cultural diversity and city life. Some of these Progressive ideas were brought about by the need for reform in the workplace due to the grown of large companies and rapid industrialization. Not everyone supported the ideas of the Progressive Movement, however. Anti-Progressives, especially in the South, preferred traditional, rural lifestyles, and a slower, simpler way of living.
Forces such as immigration, industrialization, and the populist party during the time e=were the foundations that led to the progressive era reforms which impacted the American Government greatly in its democracy and in its activeness and involvement in businesses an so on. The progressive era reforms is quite similar to the New deal era in the 1930s, they each produced a record amount of programs and policies that worked to change the status of Americans living in poverty, which included their working
Shortly after, WWII came around and it pulled the economy back up by providing jobs for people. Not only did it provide jobs, but it also changed the way people lived and the ideas of consumerism. People now had more money to spend on things they wanted, rather than barely being able to afford necessities. In actuality, "unlike in some European countries, the United States was not laid to waste by war. America's factories and countrysides were unharmed, and performing better than ever. World War I sped up American industrial production, leading to an economic boom throughout the 'Roaring Twenties.' While the war was a devastating experience for France and the United Kingdom, these countries were able to recover economically without too much difficulty" (Sullivan). While France and the United Kingdom avoided large economic decline, the United States, in fact, benefited from the war economically.
