Project Deliverable 6: Project Plan Nike, Inc. is currently trying to make a wave in the footwear industry with innovative design, development, manufacturing, and marketing. Due to the increasing demand of Nike products, the company needs to expand the headquarters to accommodate the new changes. Currently, there are around twenty employees that are a part of the IT department, but that will change as well when the headquarters is expanded. A significant part of Nike, Inc. operates domestically, but the overseas connections are necessary for manufacturing. Therefore, most of the footwear is manufactured by an independent contractor. Data warehousing handles the company’s analytic work. It is used to examine data that helps the company make the best decisions about current products, future products, business strategies, and marketing concepts. The data warehouse contains data that is detached from the operational system. Nike, Inc. currently uses SAP’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). The ERP helps Nike manage its business, but there is always another option that is better and more efficient. Data warehousing is one of the best ways to examine business data that will support data-driven decision making. The Azure SQL data warehouse has the ability to grow and shrink compute, cut costs using pause compute, and combine data. Azure SQL data warehouse also comes with the option of using a hybrid infrastructure. It supports a variety of products that allows data to be quickly and efficiently moved to the cloud. Juniper Networks MetaFabric will be used for the company’s infrastructure and security requirements. Juniper Networks MetaFabric consists of routers, switches, and security. The infrastructure includes the company’s software, hardware, data centers, networks, and any other equipment that is necessary for managing, storing, and processing information. The infrastructure processes transactions and handles the customer data that provides market insights. An effective infrastructure will allow Nike, Inc. to be more inventive, redefine the business model, and improve customer experience. Nike, Inc. needs adequate security because the company handles confidential data. Juniper Networks MetaFabric provides security options, but it is in the best interest of the company to utilize a disaster recovery plan as well. Security is not absolute. Therefore, a disaster recovery plan will help Nike save money, retain customers, and deal with security vulnerabilities in a timely manner. The Juniper Networks MetaFabric architecture will accelerate Nike, Inc. by increasing mobility. Additionally, the architecture can be applied to multiple locations, if necessary.
