That is on the grounds that project managers are essential to IT tasks of various kinds. Competencies for the different industrial sector are similar but they differ in the terminology used. Although, the basic ground rule is to assess an individual in core behavioral and job-oriented competencies, especially for entry-level project managers.
Although certification provides an edge over others in the career for an individual, a lot of other factors are also linked to it. Certainly, the certification will be one of the criteria in terms of getting recognized for the position. However, it also depends on the person who is in the interview committee, the higher management employees, say who is above 45 years of age and have worked for years together and who has put soul to project management as a career path and have done a lot of investigative homework, chances are very less that they would care for any certification on the resume, because they believe that nothing can surpass the knowledge gained from experience.
