Simpsons Essay Propaganda has been a tool since the beginning of human history. For example, take Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, they use propaganda such as testimonials to influence voters into electing them as the next U.S president. Similarly in the Simpsons, the citizens are tricked into thinking that Jebediah Springfield is a hero and he is the founder of Springfield. They are also tricked into believing that his real name is Jebediah Springfield and he was a the one who helped the place grow and become to the amazing place it is today. The actual person's name is Hans Sprungfeld, he is a pirate and is known as a hero all over the town of Springfield. Therefore no, Lisa should not tell the crowd of their findings. This makes him look like a hero and so this shows how he is a well respected hero. Also when the video ended the class was so happy, clapping and saying that Jebediah Springfield was the coolest. In the episode, it states when Lisa tells her mom that Jebediah Springfield was a fraud and he was actually a pirate who told other people that his name was Springfield. This was very annoying to Lisa’s mom and so she immediately stated “‘Everyone knows Jebediah Springfield was a true American hero, end of story!’” This quote shows how people in Springfield think very highly of Jebediah Springfield and how everyone likes him and respects him as a hero. Even though Lisa is a little girl the mom gets very offended and wanted to tell her that she was wrong and how he is a hero. Everyone in Springfield thinks that Jebediah Springfield was a good guy and how he helped people, found Springfield, and was a well respected hero. Another example is when Lisa was about to tell everyone in the town the truth of Jebediah Springfield and how he was a fraud, she was a little nervous and a old lady in front of her said, think of Jebediah Springfield and you'll be able to say what you want to say.
