Atlantic Times staff writer, Alana Semuels, gives her opinion on how America can reduce the number of homeless famlies in her article “The Best Way to End Homelessness”. According to Alana Semuels, America has the largest number of homeless women and children in the industrial world. (Cite) She mentions how the government has attempted to solve homelessness by initiating many different studies and programs. " The Best Way to End Homelessness " lists initiatives such as housing choice vouchers, temporary rental assistance, time limited housing, or interventions.
We will strive to clothe and feed the homeless as well as get as many in-need individuals jobs to help build up our community as a whole. Our name will be recognized as the Dallas Homeless Relief. In one’s own thought process, and writing, there will always be an underlying rhetorical strategy that drives the argument of the composer. Whether it be the way the author speaks about a subject or shies away from other arguments of the topic, a writer always has a purpose in their methods in order to communicate their idea effectively. This is only a natural human trait that occurs into almost anything one does while addressing an audience. In my case, I will be reflecting and analyzing my own assignment three essay entitled, The Solution to Homelessness: A Joint Responsibility, which speaks upon the problematic manner in which society talks about homelessness. In this essay, I use my own rhetoric to persuade my audience that the answer to ending homelessness is their participation in solving the problem as well as I use my writing to inspire my reader to become involved in order to resolve the issue.
I am writing to you in hopes that we could make a change in the world to remove homeless off the street and find a second chance for them to better themselves into a new life. I believe that everybody deserves a second chance, but are not given this opportunity because their lives have been already in a hole and they can't get out of it within everybody on the streets the lost people who need our help and need us to take action in their next step for them so I ask you to help me create a program that can home these homeless and find them a job so that we could keep them going . Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
The current government is creating a situation where more families along with their children are experiencing homelessness. An individual may be considered homeless when they lack permanent housing and have to stay in shelters, abandoned buildings or vehicles, on the streets, or in other forms of unstable situations. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation causing them to leave, and live on the street. Even with the population of homeless keeps increasing, the government does not aid nor benefit the homeless because they only worsen the homeless problem by having laws that go against homelessness, not helping mentally ill homeless population, and having the lack of subsidized housing.
Per the 2016 Annual Homelessness Report there are 461 homeless students in Highlands County alone. This number continues to fluctuate in Highlands County despite the Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act and HEP. These two programs combined have made it easier for homeless students to enroll, aided schools, and gave funding to schools to do with as they need. Some of this funding has gone towards parental education programs and activities, tutoring, and case management and outreach sources. While mentoring is mentioned in the 2016 Annual Homelessness Report, Highlands County still lacks these programs.
In South Florida, you come across countless homeless people every day. Many of them didn’t expect for this hardship to come upon them, and struggle to get back on their feet. A job that pays minimum wage can hardly compensate a household for them, not to mention the essential items they will need to sustain. Not only do homeless people struggle for success, but also someone who lives solely. This kind of individual can be living uncomfortably and miserably while barely being able to afford rent.
With the increased use of housing-based assistance programs being created, there is a positive outlook for homeless looking for assistance getting back on their feet by acquiring affordable housing. The ability to apply and gain benefits through state and federal programs is helping to provide food and some financial assistance to the homeless population as well as a community outreach programs being deployed in cities all over the country. New opportunities for employment and training are available for those who are homeless and looking to get back into the workforce and get off the street. The road ahead for the homeless population is, of course, paved with struggles and detours, but with the continued efforts of our country, states and communities we can work together to aid in the reduction of homelessness with the continued efforts in creating and maintaining affordable housing programs, assistance programs, and workforce development

There are many reasons in which become homeless, and many of us ask ourselves should we help the homeless. We must remember that they are people too, and some time or another in life we all need help, even then homeless. In order to end or prevent homelessness, there are a number of things we must fix, the main thing being the affordable housing.
Homelessness is a significant complex societal problem. Many people think homelessness is an individual problem, but I think society has a large factor on why people become homeless. Individuals who are homeless are not lazy like most of society thinks. These people are struggling with societal problems such as living costs and mostly cannot support themselves financially. In my eyes, Homelessness is a factor of societal forces such as high cost of housing and living and also society having failed systems to support people who are stuck in these sorts of situations.
