Vocabulary.com defines proposition as a proposed plan of action. Each proposition was made to help, educate, and even fight against certain benefits. The 3 propositions that were passed in the 1990 was Proposition 187, Proposition 290, and Proposition 227. Proposition 187 was concerning illegal immigrants; Proposition 290 was concerning public places to stop discriminating; and lastly Proposition 227 where English was taught as a secondary language. Each of these propositions had its own historical value. The way Proposition 209 affected both the Latino and the Asian in California was significant, especially when they were applying to schools. From Huffingtonpost.com they mentioned how, both Asians and Latinos had a decrease in acceptance rate of 50% after Proposition 209 was passed. There was not a huge difference in how Proposition 209 affected Asians and Latinos. But the difference in how Asians and Latinos were affected by Proposition 209 was mentioned through articles.latimes.com. Because Asians did not have much of a problem with immigration issues as much as the Latinos, Latinos suffered a bit from Proposition 209. Proposition 227 was enacted, because it was a way schools would be able to teach non-English speakers to settle into society. In both voting situations it would help non-English speakers settle into society peacefully. Voting yes, to Proposition 227 would mean that students would be taught in a special class for about a year and then moved to a normal class afterwards. Voting no, would mean students would be taught, by teachers who spoke their language and throughout several years the student will eventually be moved to a regular class. By having this proposition, people would be able to speak English fluently, which will give them a tool to communicate with other people.
