Proposition 788- Legalization of Medical Marijuana For many years marijuana has been considered as a bad thing to do as it is a drug. It is said to affect people in such a way that it could question their morality while under the influence. Throughout the years studies have shown that marijuana could be considered to be a medicine. Some states have already legalized medical marijuana. Oklahoma is in the process of legalizing medical marijuana, by doing so there will have to be set regulation on taxes, distribution, and licensing. People oppose this because it is said it could lead to recreational use of marijuana, recreational marijuana is another law that allows people to consume marijuana as if it were to be like alcohol or cigars. This doesn’t put parents at ease. Marijuana is also known as a gateway drug, though it isn’t really known to be as an addicting drug it could introduce people to other drugs that are addicting. Another controversial topic that involves marijuana is the effects it will have on people that are on the job. Can people of certain jobs be denied the use of medical marijuana? That will all have to vary in the person’s illness and the kind of position they partake on their job. It could be unsafe to some but ultimately it is a way to keep the consumer safe as well as the coworkers or employers. Many also don’t think that marijuana has been tested enough to know its effects on people. One of those is the long term effects it has on people. While it does show how it has helped some people with epilepsy. People don’t know much about the effects it might have on pregnant women as well as people of old age. There also aren’t many studies done on people with certain other illnesses, for example it could cure the symptoms of the illness but not the illness
