In the game of baseball, players are divided into two different groups: pitchers and position players. Each part of the game is absolutely needed in order for a baseball team to be successful, and along with this, each part of the game has its positives and negatives. With this said, it is truly up to each person to decide what is a positive, and what is a negative, but that is the beauty within everything.
Pitchers are viewed as the guys on the team that are not all that athletic, do not have to do a crazy amount of work during practice, and even lazy at times. This is obviously because all they need to do well is to throw the baseball across the plate, which does not take a substatial amount of athleticsm to complete, but there is a whole back story that is often misunderstood. Although during the practices in-season are often very relaxed, pitchers need to have great stamina, therefore, the best way for this to be aquired is through running, and pitchers run more than anyone on the team, especially in the off-season, when they are preparing for the season to come. They have complete control of when the game begins, where the ball is thrown, and that even dictates where the ball is hit most of the time. The pitcher is the center of everything, dictating the tempo of the game, and everyone is dependant of the man of the mound. Position players are constantly reacting throughout the whole game. They do not know what is going to happen at just about anytime in the game. They must react to where the ball is hit, where the ball is thrown, signs from the coaches, and this list goes on forever.
