Document E shows us that thirty-two out of thirty-four accusers lived on the west side of town. This would mean that almost all of the accused lived on the east side of town. According to the note on Document E, the people living on the east side of town tended to be more affluent and had more political power. In the contrast, the accusers that lived on the west side had very little to no wealth, and they had no political power. This evidence helps explain the hysteria because it shows that loss of wealth and power can cause resentment.
For example, hallucinogens (like LSD) could have gotten mixed up in the grain supply. However, with other theories like the hallucinogen theory, the other causes like jealousy, lies, and a town divided have had more evidence that builds up with their case. Even though other theories still have evidence with their side, the ideas of jealousy, lies, and a town divided has evidence rooted from sources recorded with people in 1692, at the time of the Salem witch trial

• PROTECTION Organized crime differs from regular business firms though it provides services due to a service that it exclusive to it, that of protection. Organized crime groups develop a sort of governmental authority in the market within which it operates. It is argued that it forms a governance structure mostly addressing the underground world and that this keeps it from restricted to supplying goods. Gambetta addressed this by using the term ‘supply of trust’ and the argument made is that there is a voluntary demand for services like provision of barriers against entry and enforcing collusive agreements in addition to protection of property rights and enforcement of contracts in the form of dispute settlement.
The accused are brought to trials, imprisoned, then and/or hanged. These trials are not fair and do not need proof. An accusation is enough to implicate an innocent person.
