Many people think that it is healthier to eat gluten free, but it actually can do more harm than good for your health. A gluten free diet can lack many of the most important nutrients in our diet. Many people want to eat gluten free because they believe that it will improve their health in numerous ways. John Douillard, a doctor, and bestselling author of multiple natural health books, says in his video “The Dangers of a Gluten-Free Diet” that people think gluten will cause weight gain, increased risk of diabetes, and alzheimer's, but wheat can actually reduce the risk of many of these things. These claims get promoted by books and other things, and eventually it just becomes a social trend. People say that gluten makes them feel bad, or they feel better when they stop eating it. However, Nield says this may be caused by “an all around improved diet.” A lot of the things that people will cut out of their diet when they go gluten free include junk food, so they start eating a healthier diet when they go gluten free. This may be the reason that people believe the things they do about gluten free diets because when you start eating healthier, you will feel better.
