Every being holds their own perspective towards animals. They may consider animals as machine-like creatures with no consciousness, while others view animals as spiritual creatures who have feelings and emotions just like human beings. For decades, animals have been used for further experimental research, as well as an advancement for cures and treatments of diseases. Many individuals have opposed the idea of using animals for experiments, claiming that it is morally unjust. Do animals have rights? In research, animals rights are violated because their decisions are made for them, without them having any say. Animals are subjected to tests, in which they experience a considerable amount of pain and suffering, causing permanent damage or even death amongst them. Not only do animals undergo painful experiments, but are also socially isolated from their natural habitat. These animals don’t get to live the life that they normally would in their natural habitat, for instance roaming freely in the wilderness. Without giving thought of the animal’s well being, the human race decides the fate of animals for their own benefits. Using animals for one’s own benefits is not ethically or morally correct. The Golden Rule has been attributed to Jesus, which simply states “ do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. This means that you should treat others the way you want to be treated.
