Assault weapons are seen as dangerous and mass murdering weapons. There have been many debates if high powered guns should be banned to purchase them. Many people see them negatively because all the shootings that happen are with assault weapons and high capacity magazines. They believe there is no need for that many bullets or having a rapid firing gun. However, any gun can kill a person. The people against them should just be against all guns because they are similar. They both carry bullets and they both are strong enough to kill someone. The only difference is on the size and how fast they shoot. There are pros and cons about this debate, but the federal law should allow the purchase of assault weapons and high capacity magazine because not everyone are killers, hand guns can also be dangerous and it can be for protection. …show more content…

Not everyone is a bad person whose intension is to kill. Everyone should have the right to own guns without being judged or feared. Purchasing these guns can be for collections or for entertainment. Many people’s hobbies to go to the gun range or to go out hunting. It can be an opportunity for them to spend time with friends and family. Federal law doesn’t need to worry about this gun, instead the person purchasing it. Mostly all the shootings or mass murders that happen are because of mental issues or from people that don’t have the right to purchase weapons. For example, according to Everytown for Gun Safety “34 percent of mass shootings that occurred between Jan. 2009 and Dec. 2016 were committed by those considered prohibited possessors”. Making the assault guns’ illegal will not make a difference. Crazy people will still find a way and it is not fair for the people who love guns and use them the right way, so making these guns’ illegal will not punish the good instead of the bad.
