Today I did something I usually don’t do. I read an article about valedictorians for a while. The time I spent on the article didn’t seem like it was worth it until I got thinking about it. Everyone is given the chance to be a valedictorian, but only some students make it at the end of their senior year. The number of valedictorians is relatively low at numerous high schools, however South Medford High stands out because of is large number of valedictorians, 21. From school principals to the students that attend a high school, everyone has various opinions on valedictorians. I think being a valedictorian is a great privilege. Even though class rank is not one of the major factors colleges look at, it is still important to me. I also want to become a valedictorian in high school. While a valedictorian might have to do extra hard work and put it a lot of effort, the result at the end is worth it. Being a valedictorian and getting accepted as one requires quality work and outstanding grades. I know a student has to work hard in high school to be a valedictorian, which means they may not get the chance to do things they want. However, I think the time is worth it. Getting into a good college is important to me because that is basically where my career starts. I want a successful career and I believe that education and college are key factors to that. Plus, attending a good college would have a better influence on me, therefore I would be going in the right path for a successful career. I think I should go into a career in which I am interested in. Many of the colleges focusing on one of my particular interests are universities that accept well accomplished students.
