Music is an extremely compelling form of art. Stimulating the human brain, music is able to lift our spirits and can make one feel joyful. In addition, music is also very diverse.There are over one thousand different genres all stemming from different cultures around the world. One of these examples include Hip Hop. Hip Hop is a music genre developed in the Bronx by African Americans in the 1970s. It is a reflection of shared truths in urban communities. Being African-american, I am able to identify with the cultural aspect of the genre. In order to be considered significant you must be consistent, influential, and selfless. He hustled and paved his own path in order to become the successful artist he is today. Mr. Carter has been able to deliver classic after classic since The Blueprint. During an interview with Oprah, Jay-Z said “You can hit a half-court shot once. That’s just the luck of the draw. If you consistently do it... that’s excellence.” This shows how Jay-Z extremely values consistency . Jay-Z was able to be considered a successful artist from the 1980’s until now. He is triumphant in all fields; he owns a record label and talent management company, a 700 million dollar clothing company, sports bars, fragrances, restaurants, basketball teams and has several endorsement deals. For example, In 2004 at City Hall in New York, Carter brought home thousands of prisoners who were unlawfully sentenced under these inevitable and oppressive laws.
