Abstract

This work provides information on the benefits of different birth options, such as home births, birthing centers, water births, using a doula, and hospital births. As a result of investing the benefits of each birthing option, there's also going to be information on what options are supported in Yuma, AZ. This work also includes the pros and cons of medicated birth, c- section, and natural birth. The information I gather will support my decision, when it comes to recommending my best friend on what option she should do.

The care at birth centers is much cheaper than hospitals and it's a great alternative for people are aren't comfortable giving birth at hospitals or at home. In a study published by "The National Birth Center Study," in 1989 state that there was a c- section rate of 4.4% and no maternal deaths in birth centers. (The Birth Center Experience)

Another option is water birth and the benefits to it is that the mother is placed in warm water, which helps them become comfortable and relaxed. The immersion in the water often helps lower high blood pressure caused by anxiety. When using the water birth option, the mother will need to be floating and that helps promote efficient uterine contractions, and that helps circulations, which results in better oxygenation of the uterine muscles, less pain, and more oxygen for the baby. The mother is also allowed to eat and drink, keeping her energy levels high. According to recent studies, newborns are more alert and involved in pre-breastfeeding, compared to medicated births because pain relief medications affect the child. (Natural childbirth) The con of natural births, is that no pain relief medicine can cause the mother to exhausted and less motivated. Also, the labor pain for some can be unbearable, causing the mother to stress out, negatively affecting the birthing
