According to a Pew Research Center study, “Some 88 percent of American teens ages 13 to 17 have or have access to a mobile phone, and a majority of teens (73 percent) have smartphones” (Matchan 1). In the past decade the amount of kids and teens with cell phones or smartphones has drastically increased. With the rise of smartphones Teachers and staff in schools have spent lots of time contemplating and trying to find the best way to combat this growing dilemma. Even though some people find that cell phones are beneficial to students learning, cell phones and other devices are a distraction to student learning and increase the amount of disloyalty in classrooms. Distractions are everywhere in the classroom, others talking, music that 's too loud, noise from other classrooms, but the biggest distraction comes from a tiny little device, a cell phone.
No Bans for Cell Phones? Liz Kolb author of Toys to Tools: Connecting Student Cell Phones to Education says it’s already taking into action. Almost 70% of schools that have had 5 year cell phone bans are now reversing their long standing bans. “First it was a very slow domino fall, and now we’re seeing more of a tidal wave”, Liz Kolb describes. We should be allowed to have them if you think this is wrong, then that’s your opinion, this is mine. We should try and make sure accesories don’t get taken and phones are allowed during breaks, personally this shouldn’t be a problem it’s not that big of a deal but teachers act like it is. Too many things get taken and phones are never allowed and it’s absurd.

The different advancements in technology have influenced many teachers and staff to allow leniency to cell phone use in the classroom, with the belief that they have purpose to assist in everyday learning. We knew that some of the students prefer to hear music while studying, but it do have negative effects which will caused them to stay away from doing all those works. There are some arguments against using cell phones during class hours. Cell phones are very unstoppable to the students and it should not be use to them inside the classroom. What can we do? Well, there are many things we can do when a cell phone is found on a student. The phone will be confiscated and a phone home will be required.
