Communism - A Dark Secret Hidden Behind Propaganda What do you think of when you hear the word communism? You might think of something far away, secluded from the rest of the Earth, but that is hardly reality. However, communism is occuring right now, affecting people who work with you, learn with you, and talk with you. Is that so far away? No. Of course not. Communism is happening right here, right now, and it is an issue that affects all of us, in a way. It all started in 1848, when Karl Marx, along with Friedrich Engels, published a book. This was no ordinary book though, as it would change humanity entirely. “The Communist Manifesto” was the name of the book, and as the name suggests, it was the book that began the lengthy story of communism. Communism was a government type that would promote equity, instead of equality. Therefore, everyone under a communist rule would not have a social class. Thus, everyone would be under one class. Proletariat (working class) and bourgeoisie (middle class) would unite, and everyone would get what they need. Many rules gave authority to the government, and almost everything belonged or fell under the government’s rule. In 1917, Russia became the first communist country, after a revolution to overthrow the government, Vladimir Lenin became the communist leader of Russia.
