In my opinion the Pros and Cons of DNA are: PROS • Although any testing process has the potential for errors, with DNA testing the error rate of an accurately tested specimen is less than 0.001%. this means that DNA date is difficult to argue against. • The results of DNA testing are conclusive, you know for certain if someone is part of your family because of DNA similarities. You can also tell if someone has been in a certain location because of the DNA they have left behind, i.e. a fingerprint. • With DNA samples and testing being so accurate that you cannot argue against the evidence it has led to overzealous prosecutors and corrupt law enforcement officials that manipulate situation’s for their own gain being discovered. • DNA samples …show more content…

With DNA being presented as never failing, more credit is given to the DNA sample/testing results sometimes without any proof. • The tests can be manipulated, people can use a false blood sample, saliva sample, or other items which can lead investigators down the wrong path. • Criminals could plant DNA at crime scenes to ensure that somebody else take the blame for the crime. • There is always the possibility of human error, which people labeling the samples wrong, or putting wrong information in wrong files/folders. • There could be cross contamination when handling the DNA, which could lead to an inaccurate fingerprint. • With forensic use of DNA testing not being without tampering, irresponsible handling and coercive manipulation, testing should never avert from old-fashioned police work, and there should be some privacy and transparency safeguards in place to prevent tampering of DNA databases. • Familial relations often present complex affairs that cannot be solved with genetic testing. DNA paternity determinations may uncover lies told to children or relatives long ago and thus disrupt an otherwise harmonious
