In the real world today, you are expected to sign up for the military, (3)and possibly put your life on the line, before you can even think about drinking alcohol. I don’t get why you can put your life on the line for your country, start a family, go to college, be tried as an adult(1), but you can’t drink without an adult until age 18. Aren’t you an adult at age 18? Why can you make STUPENDOUS decisions like driving, buying a car, going to college, or finding a career, but the government won’t let you drink alcohol? I believe that you should be able to drink alcohol at age 18. Imagine a world where you drive to work, have a fiance, vote for your government, and possibly have to go to war, but you aren’t old enough to have alcohol. In case you’re living under a rock, this is the world you are living in right now. In 1984, congress passed the Drinking Age Act. This act made all state 's minimum drinking age 21. I think that it 's not fair to required to sign up for the military before you can have a cold one with your friends and family. Three years before to be exact. I believe it is unfair that you can be tried as an adult in court as soon as age 10 and be put into juvenile detention in Wisconsin, but you are still not considered an adult until age 18. I understand that teenagers can make bad decisions. I also realize that you should be in jail if you have committed a serious enough crime no matter the age. I don’t agree, however, that you are considered an adult at age 18, but can’t drink until you’re 21. If you ask any little kid who can drink alcohol, they will probably say mommy, daddy, or maybe even just a grown up. Well according to law you are a grown up and you can legally be married and have a child. You will just have to have some fruit punch at your wedding. Have fun with
