So as many of us already realize, the government of the United States of America, cooperating with their own affiliate, has the determination for the citizens to spy upon each other. They always appear as “the best nation” and “the freest country with most freedom” with the greatest impression of leadership attraction to entice younger generations into watching or spying on others even their close ones; neighbor, friends, including family members. Well, it works efficiently when the economy gets tough since the government has been taking from the poor or lower working class people and funding it, buying “souls” from the middle-class, they definitely take it if even offered such job because they need to survive. Edward Snowden, a former National Security Agency subcontractor, leaked top-secret information about NSA surveillance activities of using their immense surveillance machine which was under the progress at that time to destroy privacy of US citizens including Internet freedom and basic liberties. He was willing to sacrifice his former life in order to stop the government to do such thing to their own citizens, but, not surprisingly though, he was charged by the court and has to flee somewhere else instead (“Snowden,” 2015). Furthermore, what Bradley Manning did, exposing what he has experienced back when he was serving in Iraq, totally sparked a national debate about how the US military controls foreign policy. So the question here is, do we deserve to live our lives day by day in a reality created by the “media”? There are two particular changes that the US government should do in order to retrieve their creditability both internally and externally. It was once illegal for all of the media to be controlled under a few hands so that they can prevent the airwaves to be captured from one’s interest. Hence, first of all, the government should withdraw their ownership of the media even though most people did not realize that the action has been allowed and happening on a worldwide scale. Second, the “truth” in news must be re-strengthened. However, the world could be so confusing sometimes. According to the laws of Florida Supreme Court in 2003, there is a rule that all programs labeled as ‘news’ had to only report the truth, however, they claimed that to control news networks to tell the truth is to violate their rights of freedom of speech. So, the outcome has not been really satisfying to our democratic system (Cameron,
