In the United States and many other countries, the government allots a certain amount of money to go into different public institutions. A public institution is an institution that is run by and funded by the government. One example of a public institution would be the Food and Drug Administration otherwise known as the FDA. The FDA is a federal administration that regulates food and drugs. With this said, the FDA uses policies to maintain its control over certain things such as companies that do not follow the rules set forth by the government. Another instance of the FDA regulating drug administration would be the COVID-19 vaccination. In December 2020 when the COVID vaccination had just recently come out, the FDA gave the authorization for use because of the state of the country at that time. However, they had not approved the vaccine until August 2021. This example could also be used as one of the potential challenges that they may face. I say this because they did not actually approve of the vaccination until it was already distributed to a good part of the country. The challenge of this is that while the vaccination did work it could have gone the other way and the FDA would have been faulted for this because they gave the emergency use authorization. So, therefore, one of the potential challenges the FDA may face is having to make decisions based on emergencies that they cannot control. The FDA also runs the food administration. For example, when you see recalls in stores for certain products it is because the FDA declares them unsafe to the public. Lastly, the FDA controls a large part of the cosmetic industry because they require cosmetics to be accurately labeled and have safe
