Climate change has been around for some time now and there is no question on how rapidly it has been increasing, making it a politically controversial issue. Because of this, one potential option is to engage in geoengineering. The objective of geoengineering is to make large-interventions in climate change to help slow down or even reverse the damages that carbon emissions have done. In the case of economics, geoengineering is an investment that would eventually save the planet, and it will pay off in the future. In the case of ethics, it is simple to say that humans have a moral responsibility to attempt to undo the damages that have led to global warming. Because of this, the impediment to geoengineering due to the present-day situation is politics. It is public knowledge that climate change is happening fast. As the author of Hack the Planet said, “the planet has warmed 1.4°F since the preindustrial times, with at least another 1.1°F in the pipeline” (Kintisch, 25). But that does not mean Americans are not worried about global warming. According to a research poll mentioned in the article “Americans Are Again Getting Worried About The Climate”, “about 69 percent of adults say that global warming is either a “very serious” or “somewhat serious” problem” (Leonhardt). Climate change not only impacts Americans, but people around the world. The article “Climate Is Big Issue for Hispanics, and Personal” by Coral Davenport, share how “Hispanics are more likely than non-Hispanics white to view global warming as a problem that affects them personally. It also found that they are more likely to support policies, such as taxes and regulations on greenhouse gas pollution, aimed at curbing
