As a final point, this chapter talks about the statistics of crime and how it effects the law-abiding citizens. Lott shows to the world how concealed firearms can change citizens lives for the better in this book. In Lott’s argument, he urges for those who haven’t taken advantage of their second amendment to do so. This argument has been effective overall due to his supporting evidence of crime rates and how people lives are changed with a way to protect their
All of the items addressed in this essay come to show that not very many people use guns for self defense, and that the gun purchasing process needs to be harder for customers to acquire. There are multiple ways that the world can be a better place, and the first is to create a sense of safety, by making guns harder to get. If this essay still can’t get you on its side, keep in mind that a single bullet can end a close family member’s
That may sound slightly trivial, but with the current issues people are having with guns; students taking them to schools and shooting, guns accidentally going off and injuring or killing them, people with mental handicaps acquiring guns and harming others, this would allow more people, with proper training, to assess a situation and act. Although, some may think this would promote gun use it should be thought of this way: Imagine there are nine people in a room and that four of these nine have a gun, but two of them hate each other. If one of the men with a gun pulls a gun on the man he hates, the other three with a gun could pull theirs out, and either put the attempting shooter down, or disarm him. In that case, or a case of similar nature where even something as simple as a knife or a can of wasp spray a man with another weapon could at least hold the attacker at bay until the proper authorities
Stand Your Ground laws reduce the cost of using lethal force to stop crime. As a result, a shooter [person defending themselves] “need not be correct in his perception of danger,” and can lead to them being wrong and “a victim’s life is lost needlessly” (Lawson, 300), thus leading to an increase in homicide rates under the Stand Your Ground law. With the Stand Your Ground law an unarmed man can be shot by “armed citizens who claimed a right of self defense due to perceived threatening behaviors” (Gius, 329). Looking specifically at homicides and using a larger data set, US Vital Statistics, a study by McClellan and Tekin (2012) also found that “Stand Your Ground law resulted in an increase in homicides” (Guis,
Also it allows the user to scare off any attackers. There is a significant decrease chance in which criminals will attack someone who is armed. Another pro is that people feel safer with a gun even though they might never use it in public. It is practically impossible for our government to protect everyone in the country, so the right allows the US citizens to feel a lot more safe because they can protect themselves if needed. Because criminals carry firearms illegally, citizens should have the right and ability to protect themselves from armed
This person has been drinking to the point where his thoughts have been inhibited and he has drawn his gun in order to try and shoot a cup off of a friends head. Here, Sorensen has emphasized on how absurd the mixture of deadly weapons and college kids really is. In college, it is a natural scene for students to go to parties and intoxicate themselves with alcohol and drugs. By throwing in guns with that mix, Sorensen displays, will be very dangerous. It is for this very reason that “certain concessions in the current bill would still prohibit guns in dormitories, fraternities and sororities, and athletic facilities—an exclusion justified by the possible presence of alcohol in these areas”
If an intruder has a weapon or a robber has a weapon it puts everyone around in danger.
How would you feel if your family member got shot and killed innocently? Then the murder used the stand your ground law to prevent from getting felony? The Stand Your Ground gives a person that feels threaten to protect and defend their self. Therefore, the current Stand Your Ground is dangerous to African American lives because there are being innocently killed. This is necessary because, the stand your ground law is a threat to black youth because this law will only affect African Americans because the racial stereotypes.
A decrease in incidence of gun-related violence has also decreased in the US during the time when the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act was in effect. There are two arguments dominating the gun control issue. The anti-gun control people believes that the problem is with the people not with the guns and imposing heavier sanctions, harsher punishments on criminals, and more armed guards should solve the problem of gun violence. On the other hand, the pro-gun control people argues that the easy accessibility of firearms directly correlates gun-related violence and mass shooting (Lemieux, 2014). Both arguments have its merits, but in dealing with the gun control issue, it is important to put ethics and public health implications into consideration (Boylan,
The person could protect people who can't always rely on the police. Concealed carry in the U.S. has always been a big deal. People think that it's unsafe and all it will do is hurt people. Then there's the side that approves of concealed carry. Now the new topic is concealed carry on college campuses.

Some days crime rates are up and then the next they are down, what we do know is that America is becoming safer. In 2005, 11,346 persons were killed by firearm violence 477,040 persons were victims of a crime committed with a firearm, (National Institute of Justice). Surprisingly, a lot of gun violence in America is related to self defense. Between 1987 and 1990 it was found that guns were used in defense during a crime incident 64,615 times annually. This equates to two times out of 1,000 incidents (0.2%) that occurred in this time frame.
A possible concern is threatening weapons that are used too often when a person is causing a crime. For example, crimes all over the world have steered to atrocious incidents caused by concealed guns. This implies that the use of guns is taken for granted all over the world. This means that concealed guns have been the cause of a numerous amount dangers popping up around the world. However, “Carrying a concealed handgun could help stop a public shooting spree.”
Slow drivers are way to common. Some people at some point have had a run in with a slow driver. Even though driving slowly is not a crime, it frustrates us. The reason this paper is being written is not to bag on slow drivers, but to make slow drivers who specifically drive slow in the fast lane about the danger that them doing this can cause. I understand that some people might think, "what 's the problem
Karl Marx explains that man is a "species-being", one who can create his own species but also a species that considers himself to be free (Marx 1994, 63). This idea of man being free is further drawn into life activity. Marx explains that within life activity lies the essence of a species-a "species-character" as he calls it. According to Marx's explanation, a man's species-character is free conscious activity (63). However, the presence of the capitalist mode of production leads into "alienated labour" which presents a challenge to man's species-character.
