Going Hungry Hunger in America In Johnson County we are very privileged to have three meals a day, maybe even snacks in between. Mostly we don’t even think or even worry about paying for food, let alone what we will eat for dinner, unless you’re a picky eater. What would it be like if if your parents were always stressed about money and food? For some people that’s what life is like for them and their family, but it wasn’t always like that.
Everyone has been hungry at some point in time. Hunger can drive people to do anything takes to eat even if it has consequences. Odysseus men in The Odyssey have not had food in three months. Odysseus’ men should eat the cattle that belonged to Helios, the sun god, because of the following: they were starving, the first mate said drowning was preferable to starving, and the men believe they could give a sacrifice to Helios when they got home. The men had depleted their food supply.

Every 6th person in America doesn 't have enough food to eat to stay healthy. Everyone knows how people take food as granted, or how much food they waste and even knowing how to help the helpless but don 't. People like me want to help people, so we decided to sell lemonade and raise money to donate canned goods for people in need. About 40% of food in America is thrown away, roughly 20 pounds per person. The amount of food we waste, we alone can stop world hunger all together. The point is eat wisely and don 't be afraid to save food for the people in need.
These people aren 't just lazy, no matter your preconceptions of them. There are also some ways you can help hunger. You can donate food to food drives, which are not the most efficient, but still help the needy. Donating time to food banks is also crucial.
Hunger can drive people to accomplish the unthinkable, like conquering your fears. In the short story, “The Rights to the Streets of Memphis,” by Richard Wright, it talks about a young boy, Richard, who is struggling with poverty and hunger. The way Richard describes and illustrates his hunger proves how difficult his life is. The way the author describes Richard shows how young and fragile he is. All these aspects come into the ultimate problem of his family not having the sufficient amount of income to put food on the table.
Most would assume that Nick is in pain means that Nick is having some internal, private experience of hunger. According to behaviorists, this is not the case. To say “Nick is hungry” doesn’t mean that Nick is having some inner, private experience but instead, terms like “hunger” speak of observable behavior. But then it would be difficult to see that Nick is hungry if he is not showing any signs of being hungry.

The United States of America stands by as one of the strongest proprietors of feeding the hungry of the world, yet millions of Americans are going hungry each day.
Our world has been struggling with hunger for a while, but why doesn 't anyone put an end to it? There are people who are dying of hunger while we sit down for three big, fat meals each day. And if we don 't finish one of those meals, we just throw them away. We could be saving lives, but instead, we just throw that opportunity away. Do you ever even give starvation a thought?

Since 1990, the world has reduced the number of people who live in extreme poverty by over half. But that still leaves 767 million people living on the edge of survival with less than $1.90 a day.2 The numbers of world hunger has gone down by a lot, but yet world hunger is still going on. Some of the poorest countries in the world have few to no jobs, and the few jobs that there are, are paid very little each day. Survival is key to these people and with the little money they have, it’s hard to do that. Across the globe, conflicts consistently disrupt farming and food production.
Do you ever think about the millions of families and kids that suffer from not being able to have food? You should be very grateful if you have a family to provide food for you because not every kid does.
