The number of electors are based on the number of seats a state holds in the Senate and the House of Representatives. So, when a voter places his ballot. This article provides some options for Electoral College reforming, and how they operate. One is direct voting from instant runoff voting, which is were voters would rank their candidates from favorite to least favorite instead of choosing just one candidate, then when the votes are counted, if no single candidate has a majority, the candidate with the lowest number of votes is eliminated, and then the process continues. So basically they would win the presidency by process of elimination, and this allows voters to pick their favorite candidate without giving a vote for their least favorite directly. The reason that the Constitution calls for this extra layer, rather than just providing for the direct election of the president, is that it will harm us a whole. Like Danticat I’ve also been shaped by my country’s political state in various ways. I have witnessed some of the racial injustice that still seems to thrive in our country. These injustices are demonstrated by person to person, business establishment to paying customer, or armed force to citizens they are meant to protect. When I was younger learning about politics and the political climate made me fear people, law enforcement and what could happen to our country if certain issues continued to be overlooked. I still have some of those fears, I feel like the government does a good job from protecting us from external threats, but that there is still much to be done here.
