Drinking Age The drinking age should be eighteen instead of twenty-one. When you are eighteen years old, you are legally considered an adult. If you are considered an adult then you should be allowed to drink alcoholic products. Age does not define maturity and the eighteen to twenty year old age group should not have prejudice against them that makes them feel categorized into a particular group. There are so many pros to lowering the drinking age that outweigh the cons. So many simple issues could be resolved if the drinking age were to be lowered to eighteen. If you are trialed as an adult, you should be treated like one. The mentality that you must have in order to put your life out on the line for others is the same mentality that should be able to consume alcohol and know how to handle it in smart and safe ways and situations. You can even enroll in the armed forces at the age of seventeen with parental consent. Several people who are seventeen or eighteen years old are beyond more mature than some people who are twenty-one years old and even older than that. If you believe someone has it in them to die for their country then you should really be able to believe that they have it in them to consume alcohol. The negative effects that war can have on you are far worse than the negative effects that alcohol can have on you. With alcohol at least it is under your control with how much pain and suffering you put yourself through unlike the war. Typically making something legal, makes it less appealing for people to get into trouble
