As a 15 year old, I know that us teenagers are more reckless, so the driving age should not be lowered. First of all, 13 and 14 year olds are not mature enough to handle the responsibility of driving. Would parents really feel good about their kid driving out be themselves? No, the parents would be stressing out all the time, afraid that their child could be in an accident.
The legal age of driving should be raised. To start off, there are teen that can’t mentally and physically drive. Distracting objects such as cell phones, friends in the same vehicle, radio, and anything they can think of are all deadly when driving a 4,000 pound vehicle. Teens are most likely going to be involved in drugs and alcohol. All in all, the legal driving age should be raised for numerous reasons.
The drinking age in Ontario should clearly be changed and increased to the age of 21 instead of 19. It should change because drunk driving is a major issue, many health organizations have requested upon a change, and finally students react differently when alcohol is consumed. Therefore, the drinking age should clearly be raised, so all of this could happen less frequently. Health organizations are suggesting it to be changed“ The last time Ontario considered a change was in 2008, when a board of health officially requested the province to increase the drinking age to 21” (2013, Pg: ½).
When the Minimum Legal Drinking Age changed to 21 years old in 1976, there was a decrease in fatal car accidents which saved approximately 21,887 lives (Alcohol Policy MD). Many lives were saved because there were less young drinkers and less people driving under the influence of alcohol. If it were possible to save lives, why wouldn’t you want to do that? An argument is made that if teenagers are allowed the responsibility to drive when they are 16 years old why can’t they drink at an earlier age? This is simply because Alcohol can put people in danger.
Lastly, the legal drinking age should be raised due to the common occurrences of violence and sexual assault that are attributed to alcohol drinking. “Half of all sexual assault victims report that they were drinking alcohol at the time of the assault, with estimates ranging from 30 to 79 percent”().This places males and females that do not drink responsibly at a higher risk of being sexually assaulted. It is important to emphasize, however, that although a woman or man’s alcohol consumption may place her at increased risk of sexual assault, they are not responsible for the actions of the assault. The perpetrators are legally and morally responsible for their behavior” (2). Intoxicated women are frequent targets of sexual abuse.
Some many people die due to dangerous environments. I honestly truly believe that that by lowering the drinking age, you could possibly reduce that. Clearly, I want the drinking age to be lowered to a younger age. I believe that by lowering the drinking age, there could be less drunk driving, less dangerous environments and less problems with the law enforcement.
I believe this because first of all, if the driving age were to be raised, it would limits teens’ options for the future and or present. Next, it gives teens more independence, and teaches them about responsibility. Lastly teens can transport themselves and get where they need to be. The cons to raising the driving age outweigh the pros. One reason is that not being able to drive at an earlier age limits teens.
Say no to driving age being raised to 21!! When you turn 16, everyone can't wait until they get there driving age. But now the government is thinking to put it up to 21? Well I think that is foolish because how do people drive to work and just because teens cause accidents will not mean other people do, and it would be safer if they started at 16 because then they will get more practice but when you're 21 you will go straight to driving on your own.
Learning to drive is a privilege that I strongly believe teens should keep, and here is why. Driving is an extremely dangerous task, but if you teach people while their brains are still maturing, it makes the process simpler and safer. Learning at a young age to drive is much safer than learning when you are of an older age because your brain is still adaptable. You will be able to learn quicker because your growing mind haven't fully developed. That being the case, your brain is still malleable.
I think the driving age should stay at the age of 16 because as you get older you have more experience driving. Every thing goes best when you start young because of all the practice you've had over the years. starting at 16 can can lead some teens to good cares like: NAS car, or driving for movies. I think the age of 16 is a good place to start, because its like they say know more about the job before the interview, so that way you have a better chance of getting the job. Safety still is a problem because 16 year olds are reckless as well so its a bigger chance that more people could be in danger young teens that are behind the wheel going fast and doing what ever else they do when there alone trying to be cool for who ever.
Parents can regulate gas money and driving restrictions to encourage good habits. Lawmakers should not raise the minimum driving age. Doing so would cause travel issues among families. Teens have outside obligations that require driving to various locations. Parents need to be able to supervise young drivers to influence positive future driving behaviors.
After all, it will only add to the total loss of life from the various errors performed by sixteen-year-old kids. It is unseemingly to keep something that has time and time proved itself to be appalling. It is for this reason that eighteen should be the age at which adolescents are given cars. The legal driving age should be raised to eighteen because it will keep the streets safer, drivers will be more mature, and it is foolish to oppose this indubitable truth.
As I think raising the driving age to 18 is a benefit with less harm.while not raising it will harm lives.therefore,it should be discussed. Futhermore, traffic accidents is affecting the lives of the future generation. I think raising the driving age to 18 plays a part in preventing massive car crashes. As its being found that the underage drivers are more likely to go into car accidents than adults ' 'Those who favor raising the driving age say that statistics show teenagers are more likely to get into accidents than adults ' '.(Palicz).I assume if we raise driving age to 18 such incidents will decrease. I also believe adults are more prepared for driving than underage
A teen needs to be able to drive themselves to their workplace; a guardian is not going to want to drive their teenager to and from work all the time. If a teen has their licenses they can drive themselves to and from work. Driving lets teens be able to get a job and make money, which will help them become more mature. Driving teaches teenagers responsibility.
Our lives are unbelievably valuable so we should do everything rational to avoid deaths. Nowadays, teenagers are specifically dangerous due to their recklessness and they are the ones that are more likely to commit car accidents. Delaying when they get their driver’s license, the roads will be more secure. If the age of driving is increased, the amount of car crashes will decrease. For instance, teens think that they’re fearless, which is why they take silly risks unlike mature drivers.
