Mandatory Seatbelt Laws: Do they violate our constitutional rights? It is the obligation of the government to ensure the safety of every American and safe guard and protect us from one another. In order to effectively achieve this, the government has to formulate regulations that give guidance as to what is right from wrong. Such laws have helped to bring sanity and encourage peaceful living in a society with diverse personality and activities that can easily endanger the lives of other. However, it is not always that every individual will easily accept the regulations formulated. One such law that has been resisted ever since it was formulated and enacted is that of the seat belt. Most motorists have to understand that wearing the seat belt is a choice that is made for them in order to help secure their own traveling ventures (Oklahoma State University, 1993). The use of the seat belt is to secure the human body to the seat such that in case of an emergency, the chance of being thrown out of their seat and injured is greatly reduced.
