Mandatory voting increases the flaws of the democracy instead of enforcing them. Mandatory voting goes in contradiction with the principle of liberty. Democracy is based on freedom, including freedom of choice. The population should have the choice to vote or not. Furthermore, some people refuse to vote to send the message that they don’t agree with the system which is linked to the freedom of thought an action. Also, compulsive voting increases the number of random votes. Some people choose not to vote because they don’t know politics or the can’t choose between two candidates. Those types of vote make the issue of the elections in a random result that does not represent the population opinion. The same phenomenon happens with informal votes
