That title has been passed as time goes on, where the first debate of the GOAT was most recognized as Wilt Chamberlain vs Bill Russel back in the 50’s and 60’s. After that, the title was most recognized as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after his time playing from 1969-1989. Right before Kareem retired, Michael Jordan was making a lot of noise in the basketball world. He won six championships in the 90’s and after he retired he was regarded to most as the GOAT. However, since LeBron entered the league in 2003, there was a debate within the basketball world on if he would ever surpass Michael Jordan to be the GOAT. It’s 20 years later and the debate is very heavy at this point, yet Michael Jordan is still the greatest player to ever touch a basketball.

The main argument of the Michael Jordan vs LeBron James debate is that Jordan is 6-0 in the NBA finals whereas James is 4-6 in the NBA finals. A rebuttal that most LeBron fans have is that LeBron was in more playoffs than Jordan has been in. This is true, however, Jordan was in only 2 less playoffs than James while playing 5 less seasons than James. When you win an NBA championship, the player that played the best is given an award called the Finals MVP, and Michael Jordan has 6 Finals MVPs to LeBron’s 4 Finals MVPs. “Michael Jordan has two separate three-peats, LeBron doesn't have one three-peat.
