A Freedom to No Longer Take for Granted America is the land of the free and our government is supposed to protect those rights; but they are currently trying to strip the people away of an important right that most people do not even think of. The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) led by chairman, Ajit Pai, is attempting to strip away the reason the internet is so accessible and easy to use- Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality is the principle that the Internet Service Providers(ISPs) must allow access to all content, regardless of the source without speeding up or slowing down any websites and their products. If the FCC is able to repeal Net Neutrality, it could mean a wide variety of negative outcomes. Net Neutrality gives freedom and control to the average person, not major corporations at the top. The FCC is attempting to take that right away and sell it to the giant businesses so they can control the consumers and their decisions. Think Net Neutrality as a shower head that pours only so much water. If everyone in the country is using the shower and pouring out the max amount of water, then there may be a shortage of water to give out and they may be compelled slow it down. …show more content…
The consumers were forced to deal with slow internet speeds and paid the price of dealing with this issue. If Net Neutrality were to be repealed and bandwidth control was given to the Internet Service Providers, this issue would be much more common and be an immense part in reason in what choices people be forced to create for what content they want; consumers would not be able to access all content freely and look for compromises and settle for something less than they would have during the age of the free
