The city you once loved has now been filled with what used to be Olympic arenas, but are now just abandoned rooms. The friends and family you once saw everyday won’t be seen at all. Your city is in debt and has just been attacked, and for that you can thank the Olympic Games. Some people think that New York city would be a good place to host the Olympics. The basis of their argument is that it can increase revenue, but what they don’t know is that many hosting cities go into debt soon after the Olympics games were held. I believe that New York City hosting the Olympics is a bad idea and that it will just ruin the economy. New York City is already a big tourist attraction, so adding more people to the already overpopulated city is not needed. It would just add more traffic and create more chaos, and not to mention, such big crowds can be dangerous. The Olympics will also cost an extreme amount of money. For example, the London Olympics in 2012 had an estimated cost of $15 billion. In addition to the cost of building new arenas and stadiums, the city will also have to pay for added security. Because of this many cities go into debt that takes many years to pay off. For instance, after the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Vancouver was in an estimated $1 million debt. …show more content…
