The Affordable Care Act, better known as “Obamacare”, was made by the administration of President Barack Obama. This Act is considered the centerpiece of the Obama legacy. Healthcare.org was an essential part of the health care reform plan that was set into place. It was set up to be a health insurance exchange website that would assist in selling private insurance plans to residents of the U.S. Users were prompted to create a specific account for themselves in order to find out health care plans near them. After users registered with the site, they are able to view different policies and prices in order to find the best option for them. Normally, without the proper management skills, the project would take longer than the allotted time and force it to go over the allocated budget. With no more budget to spend, the sites platform and technology will be inferior and prove no benefit to the organization or its users. The management problems of this project stem from the fact that there is no leader over the implementation of the Healthcare.org site. Even though the United States Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services coordinated the implementation, they did not designate a specific unit within their department to take charge of the project. Users were having issues logging into the site because their digital identities were encountering cryptic errors. The problems with users logging in came from the insufficient capacity of the server system that was used for the site. Individuals also found that they received quotes that were not accurate because of the software’s use of only 2 different age groups. Technically, the site was designed ineffectively for the amount of users that were expected to be using the site. Experts determined that the site had around 600 different software and hardware defects that needed to be fixed in order for the site to run properly.
