Open Carry
Open carry of firearms should be legal in all 50 states
Bang...Bang...Bang!!! Have you ever wondered how a gun in the hand of a law abiding citizen would change the way people live life. In many states people are beginning to question if their right to bear arms is being infringed upon. Open carry of firearms should be legal in all 50 states. I will look at three points: one positive, one negative, and one that looks at both sides of the issue. My first point about the positives of open carry. Robert Partain published an article on September 8th of 2014 and the main idea of the article was talking about the Pro’s to open carry. One idea he talks about is “With open carry more people are armed at any given time.”(Partian) To me reading this I believe that what Mr. Partain thinks that open carry will arm more citizens and in turn protect the general populace. In his article he said that “Concealed carry the attacker wouldn’t know that you had a gun”(Stockton) Here we see Mr. Stockton for concealed carry instead of open carry. Again Mr. Stockton supports concealed carry by saying “Carrying concealed keeps people at rest”(Stockton)Here we see Mr. Stockton support the idea of concealed carry because it keeps people relaxed because they do not know if you have a firearm or not. But also in the article he says “Open carry Seeing someone with a gun might stop the attacker before they do anything”(Stockton)Here it proves open carry may have a psychological effect on the possible outcome of a person about to rob a store or a bank for example. So now that we have seen what the pros to open carry like in my first point, and the more neutral side where it looks at both sides for a clearer answer, let’s look at an article where people believe that open carry should not be
