Pros And Cons Of Performance Enhancing Drugs

Although performance enhancing drugs can help an athlete do better, performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed to be used because they are a form of cheating and are unhealthy. Some critics argue that athletes should use performance enhancing drugs believe that they would cause the athlete to do better. They postulate that , “...the rewards for winning are too great, the penalties for cheating too light, and the chances of being caught too vanishingly small. Put in their position, most sane people would do the same, for the simple reason that doping pays the bills and feeds the family” (Reilly). Taking PED’s would then cause them to play better which then would lead to them winning and then making a lot of money. The chances of them getting caught would also be very low since not a lot of tests are taken all the time so that gives them an even bigger advantage and more temptation since there is a low risk level. But, this is still a form of cheating. Some other athletes that may be competing against them may be trying their best but still not be able to beat them since they have an advantage. Those other athletes that may not be taking PED’s could also be better than the athletes that are, so they don 't get a fare game of whatever they 're doing so it 's just not very honest.
