Many people state police officers get paid to protect and serve our community. However, a lot comes along with their daily duties and people not cooperating can be the hardest thing officers must deal with. Officers are trained to use different tactics when dealing with suspects. The most common on is using tactics like lying, trickery, or other types of non-coercive methods to catch or obtain a confession from a suspect, which addresses the following question. Is it ethical or unethical for an officer to lie during any circumstance to obtain the truth from a suspect when officers are seen as” trustworthy” individuals? Personally, I believe it is ethical for an officer to use the lying tactic as long as they are catching suspects.
