Since he is not allowed to stay out later than 12 am his brothers were very worried. Darry was very mad so he slapped Ponyboy. Pony was very shocked and ran away. He asked Johnny to run away with him but soon realized that was not logical. They decided to go to the park so Pony could cool down before going home.
Pony sees the article about him in the paper, and realizes he needs to be present at court for his actions. This risks the chance of the three brothers being allowed to continue living together. Surprisingly, all they said about Dally was how he was a hero. Soda tells Pony that they are going to have a party after the rumble where the greasers get rid of the Socs for good, after this everyone leaves and Two-bit is left to babysit Pony. While out with Two-bit, Pony spots a few Socs, Randy (Marcia’s boyfriend) being one of them.
Ponyboy should stay with his family and friends. While there are many statements supporting sending him to a foster home there is also good reasoning for keeping him here with Darry and Soda. ¨The jury has reached a decision,¨ I stated, ¨they have decided to keep Ponyboy with Darry and Soda.¨ the reasons for which he was staying were simple. His family was supporting, he could learn protection for self defense only, and because they can more than likely care for him better than a foster home
When Darry and Soda find out that Ponyboy has ran away soda writes Ponyboy a letter. In the letter Soda show he cares about Ponyboy by saying " Darry and me nearly went nuts when you ran out like that". That statement indicates that Darry and Soda were worried about Ponyboy. When Ponyboy comes back home after being in the hospital Soda starts to become more cautious about
(Hinton, page 8). This proves Soda is there for his family, by confuting his little brother Ponyboy when he's scared and upset. Secondly, ¨…,and I had Sodapop to talk things over with¨ (Hinton, page 37). This is showing how his family already knows Soda is there for them no matter what, by Ponyboy saying he can talk things over with him. And lastly, ¨ Soda always takes up for me.¨ (Hinton, page 12).
Luckily for Ponyboy, he was found not guilty and allowed to remain under his brother’s
Ponyboy is the narrator , main character , protagonist , and youngest in the gang .He lives with his brothers Darry and Sodapop since his parents were killed in a car accident. SodaPop , Ponyboy’s 17 year old brother. He has dropped out of school and works at a local gas station. He is also known as " movie star" handsome. Darry is Ponyboy's older brother and also the legal guardian of Ponyboy and Sodapop.
Soda now wants his brothers to stop the fighting, so they can all live happy with each other, and so he doesn’t hear them fighting everyday. What happened to Soda during the time of this book was awful with Ponyboy running away, and Sandy breaking up with him Soda has been through the ringer. Now he can rise past this and change in a positive way, telling his brothers that things have to change and they have to take his feelings into consideration. Telling them that they have to see him and see that he is hurting, and recodnize that. Now that Soda can rise past his brothers and their fighting, he can still be the glue in the relationship
Ponyboy gets rescued: “Sodapop came loping back. By then I had figured that… the gang was coming to rescue me” (Hinton 7).This quote represents the close brother relationship bond they have together. It might also be possible that this quote is showing that not only his brothers care for him but, the whole gang cares for him. It is likely that this quote is meant to show how protective Ponyboys brothers are. This quote also represents how much Ponyboy's brothers also care for him.
Because of Ponyboy’s guilt for thinking he started the fire, he ran in the building and saved the kids. He risked his life because he has nothing else to lose. Jail is most likely in both Ponyboy and Johnny’s future now. This impacts the reader's understanding of the book because the reader gets an insight into how much Ponyboy is willing to risk his life for someone he doesn’t even know. He’s brave
Even Sodapop sacrifices his future for his Pony- he becomes “a dropout so he [can] get a job and keep [Ponyboy] in school” (38). It is important to Darry and Sodapop that Ponyboy receives a good education, unlike the ones that they gave up to take care of the family. They also want Ponyboy to live an ordinary life without having to carry the burden of his brothers’ responsibilities. Ponyboy has always thought of their relationship being very close. He says how Soda's the only one that understands him, how he always listened to everything Pony wanted to say to him, therefor he perceived the relationship as a very good one. But one day Pony noticed how Soda’s been acting differently, but he continues on and doesn’t pay much attention, however. His view of the relationship changes when Pony and Darry had a fight about school and Soda ran out of the house. Pony didn’t know what was going on, so Darry explained, “It’s the letter he wrote to Sandy, returned unopened.”
Ponyboy lived with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop after his parents were killed in a car accident. Darry then decided to step up and “come of age” to try to be a father like figure for Ponyboy. Ponyboy doesn’t seem to think that Darry cares for him because of the way Darry treats Ponyboy so Ponyboy turns to Sodapop more, “Sodapop is different from anybody; he understands everything...almost. Like he 's never hollering at me all the time the way Darry is, treating me like I’m six instead of fourteen,” (#2). This shows that Ponyboy is annoyed of Darry 's strict father-like figure because Darry is always telling Ponyboy what to do instead of being their for him. But Darry’s strict Father-like figure isn 't so bad, it did do some good…..
