Harwell supports his claim first by framing his argument, through the use of evidence. He explains in detail what these cars actually are, for example, he cites an experiment he conducted driving these types of cars and provided information regarding price, miles per gallon, technology, and efficiency of each of the cars tested. Robert Peterson’s article, “Will Self Driving Cars Be Good for America?” (2016), asserts that Americans are ready for autonomous cars, and that self-driving cars have many advantages over their counterparts. Peterson first develops his claim by stating that Americans have used autonomous travel ever since horses pulled buggies, and that autonomous travel is not new, it is just better; Peterson then supports his claim by presenting a statistic which states that roughly 32,000 people die each year from vehicular accidents and 93-95% of them are caused by human error, Peterson advocates that self-driving cars would decrease the number of fatalities from such accidents, as the technology of the vehicles would work to avoid these tragedies, and

In the article this week, it addressed the pros and cons of what they are classifying as driverless cars. “They’d allow mobility for disabled and elderly people who are currently limited by their inability to drive.” This statement is one of many pros to having something that we don’t have to really control. I also think it’s the only pro that I can think of besides the fact that it would reduce the chances of head on collisions and human error accidents.
The companies today that are attempting to make self driving cars have had a huge success and this is a good thing because they have found that if the road is occupied only by self driving cars then it would be safer in a number of ways. One reason stated in the article “ The 3 biggest ways self- driving cars will improve our lives,” by Cadie Thompson, is that “ if 90% of cars were autonomous, the number of accidents would fall from 6 million a year to 1.3 million a year.” This would be a drastic change, and would help save hundreds of thousands of lives each year. Also in the article titled “3 reasons you should embrace self driving cars,” by Drew Hendricks, it says that “ there’s no emotion involved, and certainly no distractions.” This means that all distractions
It is expensive to put all this into action, that includes passing laws to legalize this. It might not be safe in harsh weather conditions due to the signals cars would need to send out. Also, drivers could begin to rely on technology more than they should and it could cause them to forget how to operate basic electronics including normal cars. And there are several hundred tests cars have to undergo. There are many benefits from driving driverless cars too, there could be fewer traffic stops and fewer traffic jams.
Researchers have predicted that a driverless future would reduce the number of car accidents by 90 percent. A world in which every car was driverless would be the safest outcome, with vehicles shifting through traffic using computer coordination. It will take many years for everyone to have a car like this, but we can still accomplish a smaller goal. This technology would undoubtedly allow the drivers of the future much more freedom, right? While autonomous cars may seem a viable solution, they offer many unintended drawbacks. Here in Australia, many states are already beginning to trial autonomous vehicle technology. In Western Australian and New South Wales, for instance, early phase trials of self-driving buses are currently being conducted. So, regardless of whether or not Google's aim is a little optimistic, it is just a matter of time before self-driving cars are ready to be unleashed on the public at large. The most notable impact that self-driving cars are set to have is their ability to eliminate or greatly reduce traffic accidents. Unlike human drivers, who are the cause of the majority of traffic accidents, self-driving cars will not get drunk, drive tired, suffer an emotional outburst and drive aggressively, or get distracted responding to a text message.
