In the US, we have a bit of a gambling problem. On one hand, there are plenty of casinos and card rooms scattered all across the country where people can try their hand at table games, slots, or anything else they can bet on. However, when it comes to the legality of such places, we have a bit of a checkered history with how much gambling we are willing to allow. Nowhere is this more evident than online, where US players are banned from all of the top poker rooms due to a (relatively) recent supreme court ruling. Even though the United States has one of the largest pools of poker players, many of them are forbidden from logging onto their favorite poker site, lest they be discovered and arrested (or fined).
