Banning cell phones while driving should be mandatory nationwide; cell phones are a major cause of distracted drivers and using them while driving has killed more teens in recent years than drunk driving.
Banning cell phones nationwide is necessary, The National Safety Council announced today that in the United States alone, there is an estimated 28% of all traffic crashes have cited cell phone use as the cause that means least 1.6 million crashes each year -- are caused by drivers using cell phones and/or texting, (PR Newswire, 2016).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website explains that there are three types of distracted driving: visual, manual, and cognitive. Visual distractions are anything that distracts the driver from looking at the road, manual distractions are anything that causes the driver to take his or her hands off the wheel, and cognitive distractions are anything that makes the driver concentrate on anything besides driving, (cdc.gov, 2015).
