Self-Assessment: The Change Project
The Change Project challenged me to look at different pros and cons of vaccinations even though I already had a firm opinion on whether they should be required or not. My strongest argument in this project is that receiving vaccinations does not cause medical problems like autism. There are many medical arguments and research sources that back up much of the information I will be investigating and explaining. I feel as if I will be able to hammer out my pro-vaccine stance very well due to this. I know that I will have to do more research into other said developmental issues that claim to be caused by vaccines. There is enough research in the medical field to prove that vaccines do not cause autism, but I am not sure about other problems …show more content…

I feel that if I go by the book and lay out the processes medical researchers took to find their information that I can be persuasive enough to convince audiences of my stance. By researching these medical breakthroughs, I will be about to get an affirmative answer and convince others that receiving vaccinations is safe and okay. I will also be able to go into detail about how unvaccinated children can be a threat to the population. For example, the known outbreak of measles at Disneyland would be a good example to tie into the argument. A key aspect of proving my stance will be using examples of claimed “harm by vaccines” and backing up why the con side is false with medical research. I do know that I will have to find several different cases that explain why people believe their children were affected by vaccines. Maybe I will find a case that can convince me otherwise, and I will find new opinions and ideas on whether vaccines should be required or not, but for now my
