Pros And Cons Of The Cree And Inuit Tribals

The Cree and Inuit are two tribes that have been living off their land for over 5,000 years. Their way of living isn't based on the amount of money they have, but everything they do is based on the traditions they’ve been following for many generations. The amount of land they claim is very large, there aren’t other parts of Canada where they could move to without invading another tribes privacy. The tribes main concern is that the younger generation wouldn’t be able to learn the way of life like the elderly and that it could pose a potential problem.
Those people in favor for the new project we’re looking at this project as a huge benefit to the people living the city of Quebec. Creating efficient renewable resources would not be beneficial …show more content…

The rights recognized are the people of the two tribes because the money that could come to a settlement would no doubt benefit the tribes as whole, while also being provided more resources to potentially help with everyday living. The rights not recognized would be the Quebec government, simply because it was up to them on how they wanted to provide a more efficient power source for the people who lived there. A group that was benefited were those working on the James Bay Project because they had leverage on whether or not they should proceed with the process. The Cree and Inuit tribes want to continue their way of life of hunting, fishing, and trapping on their native land. James Bay in a way would be potentially harming their rituals, but ultimately providing a plethora of benefits by going through with the project

Religious injunctions
The James Bay project is being seen as the bad guys because they wanted to create another energy source that would benefit a lot of people. The people within the tribe would have every right to be upset with the process, but in reality it should be up to the Quebec government as to who should be granted all the land.
Utilitarian Benefits
For society, it is seen as the right decision for the government to grant the James Bay workers the right to go ahead and begin building the hydroelectric power stations within the region. This would be a more beneficial power source for the people of Quebec, while also cutting out the burning of fossil fuels that pollute our air. The potential harm to nearby water is also something that could be a potential problem that could be talked about in the media.
