People can become well informed on current and historical events by watching television. Television shows such as “The Daily Show” relate news worthy information to viewers through comedy. Many people watch comedy news as their only way to get informed about the current events that are happening. Sadly, comedy news does not take relating the news to their viewers very seriously. Comedy news shows fail to successfully inform their viewers, change people's perspective on important topics, and fail to report many current events happening around the globe.

Because comedy news shows are created for laughs we may not be receiving the whole story when we tune in and watch. The majority of the news we read or watch is about very humorless matter, so maybe a comedy news show is not the best place to be informed. In his article Zinser states “ Even so, people might well think they're being fully or sufficiently informed when they watch Daily Show news segments. Can one be expected to get quality reporting from a comedy show? Does a comedian have the expertise or rigorous standards to communicate newsworthy events reliably?” (Zinser 367). This quote proves that we can not rely on a comedy show to receive good quality news on very serious matters. I believe that Shows like “The Daily Show” and other comedy news should only be watched for entertainment and not to be informed about
