On average, there are about three thousand crimes daily from theft to rape to murders. Many of these criminals that are caught are taken into the prison. Many prisons are starting to overflow because there are too many crimes today. One in nine criminals are facing life in prison. Life sentenced type of criminals should be sentenced to the death penalty.
One of the main reasons that people are pro-criminal offense is because it should be seen as a fair punishment. An eye for an eye means whatever crime you do, should be done back to you. Some may argue that this is immoral, however, was it not immoral of them to scar someone else's life? They ruined an innocent person's life so it should be done the same to them. For example, there are lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging (1980s). The most peaceful way of dying would be the lethal injection which is being executed by a trained physician. In this punishment, the criminal is attached to a gurney while the doctor attaches two pins which will help shock the heart into cardiac arrest. After, there will be needles which is for putting the inmate to sleep and paralyzes the muscle system and heart. As described, this punishment is not painful unless the doctor vaccinates the shot into the muscle instead of the veins. The electrocution stage is a bit extreme since it involves a lot of straps and a helmet. In this process, the criminal is sat on a chair secured with many belts and a helmet as well as covered with jelly on their naked legs. Then, they are shocked with 500 and 2000 volts in which continues for twenty seconds. The people executing this will then check to make sure the criminal’s heart is not beating but if it is then it would be called for another round of volts through the body. The electrocution stage seems a bit too extreme, in my opinion, for a death penalty but it still was brought out. The gas chamber was introduced in 1924 but is somewhat still used today in Oklahoma. The gas chamber consists of the inmate pulling a lever in the sealed room consisted of only him in which hydrogen cyanide will be released and take over their lungs and cause them to die. In Oklahoma, they recently practiced this form of punishment this year except with only nitrogen but this was still shut down due to it being unconstitutional. Surprisingly, the firing squad is used today in Utah where the strapped inmate is shot with rifles by five men where the doctor has placed a target right at his/her heart. Being shot is still considered an eye for an eye but this case
