¨The death penalty issue is obviously a divisive one. But whether one is for or against, you can not deny the basic illogic - if we know the system is flawed, if we know there are innocent people on Death Row...¨Richard LaGravenese. The death penalty is a example of a cruel and unusual punishment and life in prison is a much better option.
The death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment, is more expensive than life in prison, and people are frequently falsely convicted and murdered because of it. ¨Death penalty in specific cases has caused more murders¨ (Rob Warden). This shows that the death penalty is not effective and does not help with punishing people who murder. ¨A couple was being robbed and they recognized the person robbing them (someone that escaped the death penalty) and he shot the couple for knowing that¨ (Rob Warden). This proves that the death penalty does not help but in fact causes more deaths.
